cannot source or supply.
With
battery repacking your battery (which is
generally sealed) is carefully opened with
specially designed equipment. All of the
cells are then replaced using a computer
controlled electronic welder with new Quality
Nickel Cadmium (NiCd), Nickel Metal Hydride
(NiMH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion) or Lithium Polymer (Li-pol) battery cells - just like the original manufacturer.
These
new cells are of the highest quality and
latest battery technology and generally,
in most cases, result in giving the battery
a larger capacity than when it was brand
new! (meaning more working time between
charges).
A battery pack is made up of a number of
1.2 volt cells (e.g. a 12 volt battery has
10 x 1.2 volt rechargeable cells). These
cells are all connected - in series - by
the electronic welding of special alloy
tags to the ends of each battery cell.
Electronic
welding must be used, as it does not create
heat, which can easily destroy the battery.
There are some hobbyists that solder cells
together using a 300 º C soldering iron
and this brings heat problems and shortens
the battery life. After installation of
the new cells, the battery packs are closed,
sealed and are polished to bring them up
to near new appearance.
